Bio

Sorriso do Macaco (Monkey's Smile)
Chefer, Luiz Mauricio

Brazilian from 1961 and born in Rio de Janeiro,

Luiz Chefer has a degree in broad design from the School of Fine Arts (EBA) - UFRJ, where he developed himself in various segments of the visual and industrial arts.Although he consolidated his career in advertising, as an art / creative director, it was during his time at EBA that he established his respect for arts, a direct influence from teachers and friends in life model, painting and drawing classes. Artistic photography as integrant of ABAF completes its initial research and experiences in the art field.

Without a formal career, Chefer’s painting began at 20, returned at 40 and, now at 60, becomes his main voice.

Based on drawing as an integrator of thoughts, his painting is unsettling, introspective and interactive on the figurative side, as well as pacifying and contemplative when it comes to seascapes.

The artist claims his pictorial duality as an inevitable mix between the passion for the all-too-human and the presence of salt and sea air in his veins.
